Back to school, back to school portland! sad to say, weather looks spectacular for next week, as it does in most places!
Portland----Radar is showing very little activity to the west of Portland leaving me to say showers are done for the metro area. Briefly a weak ridge builds back in for the return of some needed UV rays, however a brush from low pressure Tuesday to Wednesday will bring clouds over night. Then we crank up the thermostat for Thursday/Friday with temps back into the mid to upper 80s. First Friday of school looks to be perfect.
University of UTAH-Lookin at the barometer pressure is rising and looks as though your temps will rise as well. An upper level ridge will dominate your weather this week with highs back towards 90s.
The Pioneers- A shortwave is passing through Wyoming/colordo today and tonight. a shortwave known as Shortwave Trough is a disturbance in the mid or upper part of the atmosphere which induces upward motion ahead of it. This upward motion and lead to convection as the energy flows up. Temps will be in the upper 80s for tues/wednes, but then a cold front passes through dropping temps about ten degrees for thursday. Welcome to school!
NY STATE OF MIND
Quebec high pressure for the next two days, however then a low from south will come up north and be just south of Long Island Thursday. This disturbance will bring showers to the NY state. Temps for the next two days low 80s for chuck/pete, mid 70s for fish. Chuck could see rain drops a little before fish. Temps drop into the upper 60s as the cold front moves north. <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

The catamounts
Tueday will be the nicest day of the week, that is if you like warmer weather. High tomorrow 78 then a cool off begins. We will not see the front from NY get here as it drifts to the east, however increased clouds and cooler temps by thursday and friday. highs will in the upper 60s and low 70s for wed/thur/fri with sun still shining for most of the day.
FUN FACT OF THE DAY!!!!---The highest ever recorded land wind speed was 231 mphs atop mount washington in New Hampshire. However a doplar radar once recorded wind speeds at 287 in a tornado.
